A young man was found murdered inside the wholesale vegetable market near Howrah Bridge late at night, triggering panic in the busy trading hub. The victim was discovered lying in a pool of blood within the market premises, with multiple injuries caused by a sharp-edged weapon.
Despite the presence of several workers and traders in the area, no one could identify the deceased. Police suspect the murder took place late at night and are trying to establish the identity of the victim as part of the investigation.
Officers from Golabari police station rushed to the spot after receiving information. Senior officials, including the ACP (North) and DCP (North) of Howrah City Police, also visited the market to assess the situation and supervise the probe.
Police have started an investigation into the murder and are questioning people connected to the market area. No arrests have been made so far in connection with the case.
